Golf Masters 2015

The week every golfer has been looking forward to has finally arrived and what should we make of it? The Masters is a special tournament and ever since Rory waltzed away with his 4th Major at Valhalla in August he has been sewn into the Green Jacket by the golfing world. All eyes will be on himself and the great Tiger Woods for very different reasons this week. If Rory can win and complete the set of majors it will be a phenomenal achievement. If Tiger can make the cut it might be just as impressive!! Augusta National Golf Club was designed to examine every facet of the game and getting to or just around the greens is only half the battle. The fairways are being mowed at 3/8-inch, the second cut at 1 3/8-inch, the tees at 5/16-inch, the collars at 1/4-inch and the greens at 1/8-inch.The collars of the greens are cut to a height of normal tour standard greens so will have no pity on weak chippers and pitchers. The weather forecast for the week has to be taken into account when trying to find a winner this week. It looks like there will be a mix of thunderstorms, rain and moderate wind. If the course gets soft it definitely suits Rory and Bubba Watson but I'm going down the list to find my picks for the week . All of the leading protagonists are playing well but their prices reflect this. Jason Day for instance at 12/1 is a crazy price and is based only on his potential. Jordan Spieth a 10/1 is ridiculous I would much rather go for a proven Major winner and Masters play off runner up in 2012, Louis Oosthuizen at 50/1!! The sweet swinging South African has the all around game to tackle Augusta and his golf is in decent shape with a couple of recent top 10s on the Florida swing. The other bet I will be having this week is on recent disciple of Butch Harmon, Brandt Snedeker at 45/1. Sneds is putting together a very steady season with a win at Pebble Beach under his belt already. Along with his past results of 3rd in 2008 and 6th 2013 as well as 2 other top 20s he is a man on a mission this week. I have backed Matt Kuchar for the last 3 years and I will probably have to have a small wager on him again this year just in case! At 33/1 he is an each way punt having finished 5th,8th, and 3rd the last 3 years. Whatever happens I know we will be glued to Amen Corner come Sunday night and I hope one of us gets lucky with our picks.
